The year 6’s have been learning about all the different migrants who have come to Australia over the course of Australia’s history since the late 1700’s.
They have created items that were typical of what migrants would have brought with them.
The museum includes items from £10 Poms (British migrants), Chinese migrants seeking gold and Italian and Jewish migrants following the wars. Whether these migrants were accepted as displaced persons and refugees or came as part of the various schemes introduced by the Australian government, they all had personal possessions that they brought with them.
Our students have done an amazing job with their items, with a great deal of thought going in to each component.
We are just ‘gobsmacked’ at the incredible items that have been produced and are now proudly displayed in our museum.
